There are so many great volunteer and service organizations that need our help but I wanted to focus on some that directly relate to kids.  I actually finally took the plunge and am now a Troop Leader for a Brownie troop. It not only positively benefits my daughter  by encouraging self esteem, being respectful of others, and instilling an excellent values system,  but it also teaches me things such as patience, listening, and how to be a good role model (and it's FUN)!

The recent Mason Girl Scout Bake Off was a success. See some of the great cakes done by the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.

Boy Scouts of America - www.scouting.org/ - The BSA is a great organization to be a part of.  BSA builds character, emphasizes civic responsibility and works on personal fitness.  "The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law."

Girl Scouts of the USA - www.girlscouts.org/ - This is an organization dedicated to girls and it works on positively encouraging them to have strong values, and self-worth.  The Girl Scout Mission says it all: "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place."  They want to empower girls through friendship and fun!  There are different Girl Scout programs based on the school age of your daughter, so please check out their website for further information.
