Fun & Easy Science Experiment
My Mom got us a great book called 730 Easy Science Experiments. Easy is the key word here. Kaitlin was going through the book and wanted to try one out. This is what you need:
- Drinking glass (clear one is best)
- Water
- Bowl
- 2 paper towels
Fill the glass with water; twist the paper towels together so they form a tight & long wick. Place one end of the wick in the glass of water and one end in the bowl. After a few minutes the wick will start to get wet then the water will slowly get into the bowl (it takes a while to do this so don’t sit and watch – you know never watch a pot boil).
Kaitlin was so excited when the wick started to get wet and she kept re-checking to see how much water was going into the bowl. We decided to leave everything out overnight and the next day, all the water had transferred to the bowl. It's similar to how a plant uses its roots to get moisture. Pretty cool and it was the first thing Kaitlin came running to tell me this morning (at 6:00 am - ahhhhh). Now she wants to keep on doing more – I guess we have 729 to go. I’ll keep you posted.
