“Breaking up is hard to do” but I am ready.  We have been together for so long and you have been my salvation at times. You’ve made me laugh and made me cry.  I’ve been through so many emotions with you that breaking up is so hard.  I wish you well.  There will be no hard feelings and I will fondly remember my time with you.  I am moving on and I think you should too.  Change can be tough and this was a very difficult decision for me but I know I made the right one.  In fact, I am THRILLED, I am ELATED, I am 100% over you and I am at peace with my decision.  Goodbye Showtime, HBO and Pay Per View and hello…….NETFLIX!!!!!  Why didn’t I meet up with you sooner?  Two years ago my younger, more techno-savvy, brother told me I should try Netflix but I didn’t take his advice until recently.  Now, I wish I would have made the switch sooner.  It would have saved me lots of money and given me lots of movie watching enjoyment.

Netflix is the best invention.  Basically, you sign up for one of their packages on line. We have the $8.99/month package and we get to have one hard copy DVD out at a time and as soon as we are done with the DVD, we send it back and within 2-3 days the next movie in our queue  is mailed to us.  There are no late fees and no running out to the movie store.  You set up your queue of movies or shows on the Netflix website and then you can prioritize them and continually add to your queue. Once you get your queue going, you won’t have to update it too often since there are sooooooooooooo many things to choose from.

I thought getting the DVD’s in the mail was great but my membership also includes unlimited internet viewing of movies, and television shows that are ready to be viewed instantly.  I love this too since I can now take my laptop with me on vacation and instead of buying a movie at our hotel, we can just log into our Netflix account.  But wait…..it gets even better.  My bro told me that we should get a Roku box and then we’d be able to stream in the movies and television series directly into our television.  After seeing one in action, I was sold and we purchased our first Roku box.  I love it.  We now have a huge library of movies, kids shows and more just waiting their turn for us to pick them to watch.  It’s like having your own movie store at the ready 24/7.  Now, the drawback of Netflix is that the newest releases may not be available for you right away so you do have to have some patience.  Eventually, many of these will get released and added to the Netflix library.  I don’t mind the delay, since there are so many movies that I’ve never seen as well as television series that I can queue up and start watching now.

Now, I do have to disclose that I have added Netflix and Roku as affiliate advertisers on my site.  But, I really do think they are the wave of the future (I wish I would have listened to my bro two years ago but better late than never).  I’m ready to order my second Roku box so I can stream in our selections to our upstairs television.  You may not need to purchase the Roku box if you already have a Wii game system or a compatible Blue-Ray DVD player.  Check on the Netflix site to see all the players that you can use.   They’ll usually offer some great trial offers (we had a two week free trial) or discounts, so check with either Roku or Netflix to see if there is a deal available for you.  I’m half tempted to cancel our cable all together but I think that would put my husband over the edge since he does love his sports.
