"Do you have a dog?"......"yes". "Does your dog shed?"....."yes". "Would you like to do a product review for the Bissell® Pet Hair Eraser®"Mutli Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum.....DOUBLE YES, sign me up. I can't wait to find out what "multi cyclonic" is. I'm so excited to do my first "official" product review. I review things all the time but this is the first time, a company has asked for me to review their product. I wasn't quite sure what to expect so I'm just going to chronicle the steps of our Bissell® journey. Last week, I received a brand new Bisell®Pet Hair Eraser on my doorstep. Bissell® has graciously given our family this vacuum so we can test it out and let you know what we think. They are also offering one lucky MasonMetu viewer a chance to win one of these vacuums.
The Bissell® packaging sure sounds enticing, although I was hoping to see an adorable chocolate lab on the package; instead a beautiful golden retriever named Norman was the featured pet......(Bailey, I'll get you an agent soon). Here's some of what I read:
- "Multi Cyclonic Action - Superior suction for better dirt and hair pick-up". Our lab, Bailey, sheds constantly so I'm hoping the MAC goes into overdrive.
- "Exclusive cleaning System - Pet hair lifter and rotating brush removes dirt, pet dander and pet hair in one step" - One step sounds good to me!
- "Unique Pet Hair Tools - The Pet Contour tool® and Pet TurboBrush® provide exceptional stair, furniture and upholstery cleaning." - Ok, let's get this party started.
- "Additional Features - HEPA Media Filter, Dual Edge Cleaner, Clean Filter Indicator, Easy Empty Dirt Container & 30 ft Power Cord." - I think anything with HEPA is a good thing, right? Of course if you say it's "easy", I'm all for it.
If this vacuum can do all that it claims I'll be one happy camper. I'm ready to unpack our latest treasure and go on a test drive.
Putting together the Bissell was really simple and you only had two screws to screw in along with some other attachments that just clicked into place. I think it took me a total of 25 minutes to assemble and then we were ready to go. My first test run went well. This vacuum can really suction (I read that's what multi cyclonic does) and in no time, the clear container wasn't so clear anymore. It's actually embarrassing to report how much dirt and hair that was collected. The "Easy Empty™ Dirt Container" was very easy to empty. I did read some other reviews, and some people complained that the vacuum was on the heavy side. Although, it does have some heft, I didn't find it to be too heavy and it was actually a lot lighter than our other "main" vacuum. But then again, my husband who is the "Head of Vacuuming" in our house said he had no problem and actually thought it was light (maybe some machismo was kicking in). He also liked the great suctioning but did say that the vacuum was a bit on the bulky side and if you're cleaning the stairs it gets a bit difficult to maneuver having the vacuum in one hand, while using the attachments in the other. Of course, if you read the fine print in the manual, they tell you to leave the vacuum at the bottom of the stairs and use the attachments but unless your attachments are super long, that's not going to work out so well. Overall, he liked this one much better than our current vacuum and he really liked the "PetTurbo Brush®" that made vacuuming the steps much easier.
I also used the "Pet TurboBrush®" on our couch and I even removed the cushions
(egads) and cleaned all those hidden crevices with the crevice tool. The suction
was great and our bagless container starting filling up. The one tool that I
probably won't use that much is the Pet Contour tool. I think I'd opt for the
"PetTurbo Brush®" instead since it seems to have a better suction.
One thing that I really like is that there is a "Clean Fill Indicator" that will let me Chris know when I he needs to clean the filters. It's always a guessing game on our other vacuum, so having this will be a big help. There are two fliters on this vacuum. One is a HEPA filter which you'll need to replace eventually and the other filter can be washed and cleaned. You'll want to make sure you clean these regularly to keep your vacuum working most efficiently. The HEPA Media Filter "captures over 99.9 percent of pet dander, dust mites, pollen and ragweed to help create a healthier home environment".

Full embarrassing disclosure here - YUCK! nothing like seeing all that we suctioned from
our family room and couches. Note the intact pretzel.
After using the Bissell® Pet Hair Eraser®"Mutli Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum (say that five times in a row really fast) for the past week, it has now become our go-to vacuum. Getting the new Bissell couldn't have come at a better time especially since we are now in prime-time shedding season for our girl, Bailey. If you'd like to read more Bissell pet tips, visit their Pet Lovers Community. Since we haven't had the Bissell for that long, I really can't comment on its overall longevity. It does come with a three year limited warranty and it also has the Goodhousekeepoing Seal of approval so that makes me feel even better about this product.
If you'd like to see firsthand how Bissell® received the Goodhousekeeping Seal of approval, head to the Taste of Cincinnati over Memorial Weekend on May 29-31 and stop by the mobile Goodhousekeeping Research Institute On Tour sponsored by one of my favorite stores, IKEA. The GHRI tour has been traveling throughout the country and has stopped in ten other cities. They've saved the best for last and Cincinnati is their final tour stop. The interactive exhibit helps Goodhousekeeping celebrate its 100th birthday of the Goodhousekeeping seal and can show consumers the "science behind it".
Now if you made it to the end of this review, you get a gold star plus a chance to win your very own Bissell® Pet Hair Eraser®. The nice folks at Bissell (did you know they help support Ronald McDonald Charities as well as having sustainable practices), have offered to give one of these great vacuums to one lucky MasonMetu reader.
