Thank you for reading my blog posts. I hope you can laugh along with me, preferably not at me. :) I've had fun writing the posts and I've found it is a great way to journal moments in our lives. One day when my girls are older, I'll be able to share these posts with them.
On some browsers (Internet Explorer), you may need to click on the current blog post in order to see the ghosts of blogs past - then it opens back up into the main blog page and you have to scroll down again for all the posts. I know it's a bit confusing but I'm not quite sure how to work that bug out of the system yet.
If you'd like to leave a comment on a blog, please click on the title of the article you are reading, then scroll down and you'll find the place to leave the comment.

Sometime I wonder if I have a mental block on learning. This morning K runs in exclaiming S got a letter. She excitedly hands it to S (who can't read yet) and then S asks me to read it. In all of our excitement I tell her, "Yea, you just won a roller skating party like K did last spring". S happily runs around the room and is beaming. Then I drop the ball, "oh wait, you can't go you've got soccer that night." Happiness quickly dissolves to tears and one upset five year old. I don't blame her. I'd be upset too.
I should have read the flyer first before spouting off what was on it. Then I could have told her something else. In retrospect, I should have said, "they'd like you to come roller skate some day". S would have thought ok and moved on. But noooooooooooooo, I made it even worse by getting excited too. Of course this all transpired within a one minute time frame so maybe I am being too hard on myself. But I did feel terrible after seeing how sad and disappointed S was.
So, the moral of my story, next time the mail comes, I need to stop, read and understand what is in it before joyously exclaiming, "YOU WON A ROLLER SKATING PARTY - YIPPEE YEA".
Maybe some of you can relate. I'd love to hear if anyone can join me on the "What was I thinking" boat. I'm hoping it doesn't capsize too soon.

Turning 40 is a BIG deal but surviving riding Firehawk is even bigger. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I asked my friend, LP, to go with me to Kings Island last week. Kids in school? Check! Beautiful day with no humidity? Check! Moms ready to ride? Check! No lines? Priceless. Kings Island and I go way way back. I fondly remember the days when I would don that oh so flattering Bavarian frock and joyously serve park patrons puff pastry, cotton candy and funnel cakes. It was... Continue reading...

Our arrival for the tour - happy now, not so much later. :(
It’s that time of year......“Back to School”. For many of us that means back to routines, back to homework, back to bedtimes, back to sports, back to SANITY. Like many of you, you may be getting your children prepared – giving them pep talks, purchasing school supplies and new clothes, setting up new rules or remembering old ones, and getting them organized (ok, who am I kidding getting me organized). Part of our back to sch... Continue reading...

Visiting the Strong Museum of Play, Rochester, NY This was part of the Sesame Street DisplayWe're finally back from a two week hiatus – we visited Central New York's Finger Lake Region for our annual family adventure. I love it there since I have so many fond childhood memories revolving around Owasco Lake and visiting my grandma in Auburn, NY. Returning as an adult, I get to relive the fun through my girls. Seeing them joyously jump into the lake no matter how cold it is takes me back to... Continue reading...

Sometimes it's the little things that make a difference. That's what happened to me the other day. I had to get an oil change so I headed to a place close to home since it was fast and quick. I could see something hanging down from my Toyota Sienna and the oil change guy said I needed to get a bolt for the skid plate. Glad he told me the name since I am clueless about cars, and knowing the name of things does make you sound like you know something. I told him that I'd probably just swi... Continue reading...

When I was a kid, we didn't have as many television choices as we do now. We didn't even have cable, but on Sundays we'd anxiously wait for the Wonderful World of Disney movies and we'd actually watch these as a family. As a kid, the word family-friendly meant nothing to me - I was just glad to watch with my brothers and parents. But as a Mom family-friendly programming does mean a lot. That's why, I'm excited to let you know about an upcoming family-friendly movie that is coming out on NB... Continue reading...

When I was “gainfully employed” (I’m not sure why I had to add the gainfully but I’ve always heard that saying…..maybe it should’ve been “painfully employed” or “I need to work because I need the money employed”), I used to enjoy my commute to work. Why? I got to listen to NPR – National Public Radio. I loved my time with NPR. I liked listening to Morning Edition on the way to work and hearing the familiar voices of Rene Montagne, Steve Inskeep, Carl Kassel and Frank De... Continue reading...

I've been getting the REACH savings magazine for years. I actually read it cover to cover to see what great deals they have. I always find a coupon that I can use and then I stow it in my car for future use. Of course, I then have to remember to get it out and it's sometime difficult to remember all the great deals inside, but now with the eReach Big Deal, it's even easier for me to see some great deals. Every day, I get an email telling me what today's Big Deal is. If it's one that I'l... Continue reading...
